Traveling abroad can be one of the most memorable and exciting experiences – if planned out accurately and efficiently. Taking the time to proactively detail out your trip, all travel arrangements and safety precautions ahead of time can certainly save you a lot of confusions and headaches down the road, if a problem were to arise.

Before you set off on your journey, consider these fantastic international travel tips from The U.S Department of State:

  • Make sure you sign your passport and fill out all emergency contact information. A signed, valid passport and visa, if required, is crucial to safe and efficient traveling – as is filling out the emergency information page of your passport, in its entirety.
  • Leave copies of your itinerary, passport data page and visas with family or friends, so you can be contacted in the case of emergency.
  • Check your overseas medical coverage and consider securing comprehensive travel insurance. Florida residents are encouraged to review their coverage and determine if their medical policies are applicable overseas. If not – consider a supplemental insurance policy.
  • Familiarize yourself with local conditions and laws before you jet-set off to a new country or foreign land. Remember – while in a foreign country you are subject to their laws.
